- Party General Secretary To Lam has recently signed the Politburo’s Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW, setting out groundbreaking measures to strengthen the protection, care, and improvement of the people’s health.

The resolution highlights health as the nation’s most valuable asset and a cornerstone of prosperous and sustainable development, placing citizens at the centre of all policies. It represents a fundamental shift from a treatment-focused medicine to a preventive approach, underscoring completion of preventive medicine system, stronger grassroots facilities, and more comprehensive healthcare services. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on September 11 signed an official dispatch, urging ministries, agencies, and localities to step up the disbursement of public investment capital this year.

Since the beginning of 2025, the Government and the PM have issued numerous instructions on this matter. As of the end of August, disbursement was estimated at 46.3% of the plan assigned by the Government leader, higher than the same period in 2024 (40.4%). Of this, nine ministries and central-level agencies along with 22 localities reported disbursement rates above the national average, while 29 ministries, central agencies and 12 localities remained below that benchmark. - The Vietnam Cyber Emergency Response Team (VNCERT) has confirmed a data breach at the National Credit Information Centre (CIC), with initial findings indicating a targeted cyberattack designed to steal personal data.

According to VNCERT, the agency received a cybersecurity incident report on September 10 stating signs of personal data compromise at the CIC. Read full story

- Australian Governor-General Sam Mostyn expressed her admiration for Vietnam’s remarkable transformation, particularly its strong economic growth, the most successful in the region, affirming that its people have every reason to be proud of the country’s growing global influence.

Talking to the press on the occasion of her state visit to Vietnam, Mostyn shared her impressions of returning to Vietnam after more than 30 years, recalling her first visit in the early 1990s when she was deeply touched by the country’s warmth and hospitality, which have remained vivid in her memory. - The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) will coordinate with relevant units to begin flight inspection and calibration at Long Thanh International Airport from September 26, CAAV Director Uong Viet Dung announced on September 12.

Accordingly, this work will last over 10 days, using Beechcraft B300 aircraft. These flights will primarily take place at night or in the early morning hours to utilise available airspace and minimise disruptions to commercial flight operations at Tan Son Nhat Airport. In some cases, flight crews may need to carry out tasks around midnight to ensure the safety, accuracy, and objectivity of the inspection process./. Read full story

Party official, JICA President discuss expanding leadership training cooperation

Vietnam suggested JICA continue implementing a leadership capacity-building project for 2026–2028, aligned with Vietnam’s development priorities and four new pillars of bilateral cooperation - AI, digital transformation, smart cities and high-tech infrastructure; high-quality human resource development and institutional reform; green and circular economy development and disaster prevention; and social welfare, health care, elderly care and private-sector development.

ASEAN Future Forum 2026 highlights Vietnam’s role in shaping ASEAN agenda: Chinese scholar

Professor Qu Qiang of the Minzu University of China and commentator for China Global Television Network (CGTN) said the forum underscores Vietnam’s growing role as one of the countries helping shape ASEAN’s agenda. Topics such as unity and resilience, conflict prevention and AI governance address some of the region’s most pressing challenges, while new mechanisms including political-party dialogue and greater participation by cities and youth reflect efforts to modernise regional governance.

Vietnamese sail training ship completes 2026 overseas mission

Sail training ship 286 – Le Quy Don and a delegation from the Vietnam People's Navy sailed more than 1,600 nautical miles to visit and conduct exchanges with the Royal Thai Navy and the Royal Cambodian Navy while providing extended sea training for Naval Academy cadets.

Vietnam, Thailand strengthen sharing of legislative and oversight experience

Based on the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between Vietnam’s National Assembly and Thailand’s House of Representatives, signed in 2023, Vietnam and Thailand agreed to continue exchanges of delegations at all levels, expand interactions between parliamentary friendship groups, especially the Vietnam–Thailand Parliamentary Friendship Group, as well as among women and young parliamentarians, while maintaining close coordination at multilateral forums.
