Can Tho city promotes key products to Canadian market

Can Tho (VNA) - Leaders of the People’s Committee of Can Tho city held a working session with a delegation of the Canadian Chargé d’Affaires ad interim to Vietnam on September 4.

Leading the delegation, Francesca Bellone, Head of the Cooperation Development Department at the Canadian Embassy in Vietnam, congratulated Can Tho on its recent mergence and expressed anticipation for closer and broader cooperation between Canadian partners and the city in the coming time.

She remarked that Can Tho currently possesses many unique factors for development, especially its landscapes, culture, and dynamic business community, making it a model for modern and sustainable development in the future.

According to Vuong Quoc Nam, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, as the driving centre of the Mekong Delta region, Can Tho has established education, healthcare, and financial systems that ensure stability and development. Currently, it boasts an expanding development space and a diverse marine economy with approximately 72 kilometres of coastline and over 7,000 hectares of mangrove forests.

Nam expressed his hope that, through the embassy, Can Tho will have more opportunities to connect and attract investment in projects related to high-tech and circular agriculture, green technology, digital transformation, processing and manufacturing, seaports, logistics, renewable energy, science and technology, and climate change mitigation.

It is also necessary to strengthen connections in promoting trade to bring the city’s key products, such as farm produce, aquatic products, and processed goods, into the Canadian market, he added./.
