HCM City supports hi-tech agricultural start-ups

Ho Chi Minh City will give priority to supporting and nurturing high-tech agricultural production start-ups of young entrepreneurs in an aim to raise the proportion of high-tech agriculture in the city's total agricultural land.

HCM City (VNS/VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City will givepriority to supporting and nurturing high-tech agricultural productionstart-ups of young entrepreneurs in an aim to raise theproportion of high-tech agriculture in the city's total agricultural land.

According to the city’s Department of Agriculture and RuralDevelopment, the city has more than 60,000 hectares of agricultural land,but the area under high-tech agriculture is less than 1%.

By 2030, it targets to increase the proportion of high-tech agriculture inthe city's total agricultural land by up to 10%.

It now has about 4,300 agriculture enterprises, accounting for 1% of the totalnumber of enterprises in the city.

The production value of the agricultural sector is only on-fifth the valueof other sectors.          .

The department has coordinated with the city’s Department of Science andTechnology, the Business Startup Support Centre under the municipal Youth Union, and the people's committees in districts and Thu Duc city to nurture business confidence and the entrepreneurialspirit among young people for developing high-tech agricultural startups.

It submitted a draft amendment to the policy on providing loan interest rate support for high-tech agriculture to build net houses and greenhouses onagricultural land.

In addition, the Department of Science and Technology and the BusinessStartup Support Centre are offering a number of policies to supportinnovative start-ups in high-tech agriculture./.

Policy push opens new space for private sector growth

Tran Thanh Huong, Deputy Head of the Policy, Business Environment and International Cooperation Division at the Ministry of Finance (MoF)'s Department of Private Enterprise and Collective Economy Development, said business formation has jumped since the Politburo issued Resolution 68-NQ/TW on private sector development on May 1, 2025. About 297,500 firms were newly established or resumed operations in 2025, and nearly 206,400 did so in the first eight months of 2026.

Hanoi sees strong growth in nine-month FDI attraction

The Hanoi Department of Finance reported that foreign-invested enterprises in Hanoi generally maintained stable production and business operations in September, with many continuing to expand investment, increase capital and develop markets. Investment activity was concentrated mainly in real estate, wholesale and retail trade, information and communications, professional, scientific and technical activities, and business support services.
