Innovation forum in Singapore draws global Vietnamese talent to shape tech future

The Vietnam Global Innovation Connect Singapore 2025, themed “Connect – Converge – Create: Empowering the Future with Technology”, focuses on three strategic issues of semiconductors, AI, and financial technology.

Singapore (VNA) – The Vietnam Global Innovation Connect Singapore 2025 kicked off in Singapore on February 20, bringing together some 100 Vietnamese experts and entrepreneurs from around the world to advance the nation’s technology development.

The three-day forum, jointly held by the Association of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts (AVSE Global) and the Vietnam Community Liaison Committee in Singapore (VNAS), centres on the theme “Connect – Converge – Create: Empowering the Future with Technology”. Discussions focus on three strategic issues of semiconductors, AI, and financial technology.

Prof. Nguyen Duc Khuong, AVSE Chairman, described the forum as an important event, helping connect Vietnamese intellectual networks globally to find ways to make breakthroughs in emerging technology sectors.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Tran Phuoc Anh emphasised the forum's timing, as bilateral relations between Vietnam and Singapore are set to reach a new high, noting innovation would create the foundation for Vietnam's socio-economic development in the new era as outlined by Party General Secretary To Lam.

There are some 6 million overseas Vietnamese, a huge resource for national development, he underscored.

Professor Vu Minh Khuong from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy shared insights into Singapore's remarkable transformation from a third world to a first world nation, suggesting valuable lessons for Vietnam's development path. He highlighted Singapore is interested in Vietnam's development ambitions and anticipates Party chief To Lam's upcoming visit to the country.

The forum also features discussions on emerging technologies, with An Binh Bank General Director Pham Duy Hieu, also Chairman of the Startup Vietnam Foundation (SVF), stressing the importance of creating an environment where creative seeds can germinate, and Mai Trong Thi, a Vietnamese expert in Singapore, emphasising the need to gather intellectuals for the nation’s technology development.

Several side activities at the Singapore Management University and networking sessions with the Vietnamese Student Association in Singapore are scheduled. Individuals who have made significant contributions to innovation and technology globally and in Vietnam will be also honoured.

DNA testing capacity expanded to identify over 207,000 martyrs’ remains

Vietnam turns AI ambitions into tangible business results

AI has become a high or top priority for 69% of surveyed Vietnamese businesses, while 84% expect their use of AI to increase over the next year. Although 61% of adopters remain at the experimentation stage, 71% said their AI investments have already broken even or generated returns.

Vietnam, Canada look to turn strategic partnership into tech projects

Canada's research strength paired with Vietnam's manpower, market size and speed of adoption could address national-level challenges and help small- and medium-sized enterprises modernise production and tap into the international innovation ecosystem, said Assoc. Prof. Vu Viet Hung.

Overseas Vietnamese intellectuals drive innovation

Overseas Vietnamese scientists do not have to return to Vietnam for long-term work to make an impact. They can contribute by joining collaborative research teams, sharing analytical techniques, facilitating access to modern equipment, and linking Vietnam with international labs and universities.

Better Choice Awards 2026 honours innovative Vietnamese businesses, tech products

The fourth edition of the awards featured a complete restructuring into four award tracks: Innovative Choice Awards, Smart Choice Awards, Car Choice Awards and the newly introduced Nation Builders Awards. Localities apply AI, data to drive practical digital transformation

In the central province of Quang Tri, an AI-powered “People’s Assistant” is being piloted from October 1 to 31 at the provincial Public Administration Service Centre and the centres of this kind in Dong Thuan and Dong Ha wards. The system provides information on procedures, required documents, forms and fees, while also supporting declaration and preliminary checks.

Businesses must be at heart of innovation: Deputy PM
