Int’l forum bolsters Vietnam – EU cooperation in digital investment

The forum creates a platform for policymakers, businesses, and institutes of both sides to connect and seek measures for promoting investment, innovation, and technology transfer in key areas to shape a digital future of sustainability and prosperity.

HCM City (VNA) – The international forum “Connecting the Europrean Tech Business Offer with Vietnam’s Digital Future” was held in Ho Chi Minh City on October 21 to promote digital transformation through technologies, investment, and sustainable partnerships.

Organised by D4D Hub in collaboration with the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam, the Association of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts (AVSE Global), and the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, the event gathered representatives of European diplomatic missions in Vietnam, leaders of Vietnamese ministries and agencies, and tech enterprises of the two sides.

In his speech at the plenary session, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui The Duy laid stress on Vietnam’s new development phase where digital transformation is not only a trend but also an imperative for fast, sustainable, and autonomous development. Digital transformation has been identified as a key driver for socio-economic development, built on the three pillars of digital government, digital economy, and digital society, with data, technology, and people as the foundation.

The EU has been an important and trustworthy partner of Vietnam, Duy said, hailing the bloc’s experience in responsible, ethical, and sustainable digital technology development.

He underscored that the forum creates a platform for policymakers, businesses, and institutes of both sides to connect and seek measures for promoting investment, innovation, and technology transfer in key areas to shape a digital future of sustainability and prosperity.

EU Ambassador to Vietnam Julien Guerrier, for his part, spoke highly of Vietnam’s achievements in digital technology, highlighting the EU’s interest in stepping up cooperation with the country in the areas of digital investment and technology transfer to unlock the vast potential between the two sides, serving Vietnam’s digital transformation and sustainable development.

The forum featured six working sessions aimed at promoting EU enterprises' partnerships with Vietnamese firms and state agencies in such areas as semiconductors, telecommunications, digital infrastructure, AI, and corporate digitalisation, thus reinforcing a joint commitment to building an open and trusted ecosystem that respects data sovereignty and bolster sustainable values./.

Vietnam races to restart idle ethanol plants to meet surging demand

Do Van Tuan, Chairman of the Vietnam Biofuels Association, said that monthly ethanol demand for the E10 blend is projected at 92,000–100,000 cu.m. The country’s six ethanol plants have a combined design capacity of roughly 41,000 cu. m per month, but only three are now running, churning out about 25,000 cu.m, or just 25–27% of demand. Even if every plant hits full tilt, local supply would cover only around 41% of national needs.

Ho Chi Minh City to pilot pork trading on Mercantile Exchange of Vietnam

Nguyen Nguyen Phuong, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Industry and Trade, said listing pork on the MXV will finally give consumers and firms more stable prices, while slapping on stricter food safety rules and making it easier to track where the meat actually comes from.
