Hanoi (VNA) – The following is a list of selected news summaries reported last night by the Vietnam News Agency.

– Party General Secretary To Lam delivered a keynote policy address at the fourth Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit that opened in Hanoi on April 16.

The event, the first multilateral high-level meeting on green growth ever hosted by Vietnam, attracted over 1,000 delegates from more than 40 countries and international organisations. Read full story

– State President Luong Cuong hosted a reception in Hanoi on April 16 afternoon for Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Tae-yul who is paying an official visit to Vietnam and attending the 4th P4G Summit.

President Cuong highly appreciated Cho for leading the Korean delegation to visit Vietnam and attend the P4G Summit, and thanked the Republic of Korea (RoK), in its capacity as a founding member, for actively supporting Vietnam in successfully hosting the first multilateral summit on green growth. – State President Luong Cuong on April 16 welcomed Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali who is paying an official visit to Vietnam and attending the 4th P4G Summit.

– Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a High-level Plenary Discussion on "Sustainable and people-centred green transition” within the framework of the 4th P4G Summit in Hanoi on April 16 afternoon.

In his opening speech, PM Chinh said that for sustainable and people-centred green transition, the discussion would be an opportunity for countries to exchange and build an action programme based on three aspects: building inclusive, fair green institutions, taking the market as the centre to regulate and allocate resources as the foundation; building green economic capacity; and building a green international cooperation framework and multi-sectoral, multi-subject linkages. – PM Pham Minh Chinh has underscored the importance of multilateralism and international solidarity, as well as the role that developing nations like Vietnam and Kenya play in global efforts towards green and sustainable development.

Hosting a reception in Hanoi on April 16 for Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for Defence Soipan Tuya, who is in Vietnam for the 4th P4G Summit, PM Chinh expressed confidence that the Kenyan delegation will contribute valuable green and sustainable development initiatives to the summit agenda, while strengthening bilateral relations. – PM Pham Minh Chinh hosted a reception in Hanoi on April 16 for Minister of Climate Change and Environment of the UAE Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, who is in Vietnam to attend the 4th P4G Summit.

Recalling positive impressions from his official visit to the UAE in October 2024, the Vietnamese leader expressed his admiration for the UAE's achievements, and his desire to learn from the country’s experience in economic transformation as well as rapid and strong development. Read full story

– PM Pham Minh Chinh has called on the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to support Vietnam in carrying out large-scale infrastructure projects that could help reshape the country’s development trajectory.

– National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man on April 16 met with Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed Ali, who is on a four-day official visit to Vietnam and attending the 4th P4G Summit.

The top legislator highlighted the fine friendship and cooperation between the two countries, built on the foundation of solidarity, and mutual support and respect, stating that the Vietnamese NA always supports and wishes to contribute to the relationship. Read full story

– Leaders of Laos and Ethiopia, the UN, and the World Resources Institute delivered important speeches at the opening of the 4th P4G Summit in Hanoi on April 16, stressing the importance of international cooperation to promote green growth, and achieve sustainable development and environment protection goals.

In his speech, Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone highlighted the significance of the event, saying that it reflects Vietnam’s proactive role and practical contributions to global efforts toward green growth, green transition, and sustainable development. Read full story

– Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung called on US chipmaker Qualcomm to join Vietnam’s efforts in developing an AI and semiconductor hub while receiving Jilei Hou, Vice President of Engineering at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., in Hanoi on April 16.

The Vietnamese Deputy PM highly evaluated Qualcomm’s acquisition of part of Movian AI of Vingroup, affirming that the firm’s decision to make a large and long-term investment in Vietnam is both wise and well-founded. Read full story

– In the lead-up to the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, Vietnam’s armed forces gathered on April 16 for a full-scale parade and marching rehearsal at Regiment 935, Division 370 of the Air Defence – Air Force (ADAF) Command, based in the southern province of Dong Nai.

The rehearsal — the second major run-through — was organised by the parade sub-committee for the national celebration, which will be held on April 30. Read full story./.

Vietnamese naval ship completes mission at Kakadu Exercise 2026

Ship 016–Quang Trung of Brigade 162 under Naval Region 4 departed Sydney Harbour on the morning of March 25 for home after successfully completing activities within the framework of the Exercise Kakadu Fleet Review 2026 marking the 125th anniversary of the Royal Australian Navy and the multilateral naval exercise Kakadu 2026.
