- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called on Yamato Holdings – which holds approximately 46% of Japan’s home delivery market – to invest in logistics centres in Vietnam, while receiving its Executive Officer and President Nagao Yutaka in Hanoi on February 17.

Commending the company’s ongoing projects in collaboration with Vietnam’s FPT Corporation, the PM expressed confidence that they will significantly contribute to Vietnam’s logistics sector and strengthen the two countries’ economic cooperation. Read full story
- Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son held phone talks with Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha on February 17 at the request of Ukraine.
Son affirmed that being a friend of both Russia and Ukraine, Vietnam maintains a consistent, balanced and objective stance on the ongoing Russia – Ukraine conflict. Read full story
- The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) won two first prizes at the Organisation of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) Awards 2024, as announced by OANA Secretary General Zaman Rezakhani at the 54th Executive Board Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on February 17.

The first prize in the article category was awarded to the piece titled “Bau vat truyen doi tu dan ong rung” (Beeswax: a timeless treasure from wild bees) by the authors Quynh Trang, Bang Cao, and Luong Thu Huong, while the first prize for the photo report went to An Thanh Dat for his work titled “Doc dao vat cau nuoc lang Van ” (the unique mud ball wrestling festival in Van village). - China and Vietnam have achieved significant and substantive results in bilateral cooperation across many fields thanks to the pioneering leadership of historical figures such as Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh and Chinese Chairman Mao Zedong, along with the strategic guidance of current leaders from both nations, said Professor Liu Ying at the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies under the Renmin University of China.
In an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA)’s correspondents in Beijing on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (January 18, 1950- 2025) and the “Year of Vietnam-China Humanistic Exchange, Professor Liu said that over the past 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have stood side by side, supporting each other in the struggle for independence and national liberation of each country. - Vietnam is deepening collaboration with Cuba and Canada in training and capacity building, particularly in public administration and governance, following meetings in Hanoi on February 17 between Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA) President Nguyen Xuan Thang and the Ambassadors of Cuba and Canada to Vietnam.
During talks with Cuban Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, Thang proposed closer coordination between the Cuban Embassy and the HCMA to organise theoretical exchanges between the Communist Parties of both nations this year. - The 15th National Assembly (NA) deliberated on a plan to supplement charter capital for the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) for the 2024-2026 period at its 9th extraordinary session in Hanoi on February 17.
Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang presented the Government's proposal, seeking the NA’s approval for the allocation of 36.689 trillion VND (1.46 billion USD) from public investment funds already earmarked for the Ministry of Transport. This funding package includes 10.062 trillion VND from the State budget as counterpart funding; 24.127 trillion VND from official development assistance (ODA), converted from re-lent loans into direct state budget allocations; and 2.5 trillion VND in direct State budget allocations for Noi Bai – Lao Cai and Cau Gie – Ninh Binh expressway projects. - Canada's Saskatchewan province is looking to deepen its collaboration with Vietnam, particularly in trade, agriculture, renewable energy, sustainable mining, and vocational training.

- An estimated 3,000 people in the Mekong Delta region have received free medical check-ups, medication, and treatment from February 16-19 through an international public healthcare collaboration programme.

- The Hue Monuments Conservation Centre has confirmed that it is collaborating with the Republic of Korea’s UALS Co., Ltd. to implement a 3D scanning and digital photography project aimed at creating a comprehensive digital database of the newly restored Thai Hoa Palace in the central city of Hue.

The project is expected to run until the end of this year, with the digital database set for completion by June 2026, meeting both Vietnamese and international standards.
The comprehensive restoration of the palace began in November 2021 with an investment of nearly 129 billion VND (5.06 million USD). After three years, it was completed in late November 2024, nine months ahead of schedule, solidifying the palace’s status as a must-visit attraction within the Hue Citadel. Read full story
- Passengers using the Ho Chi Minh metro can now use local payment cards to buy tickets in addition to other existing cashless options.
Its automated ticket payment system has been developed by Sacombank and its partners using open-loop technology, which, since February 14, has been allowing cards issued by the 25 member organisations of the National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (NAPAS) to make contactless payment for tickets.
