- Party General Secretary To Lam hosted a reception in Hanoi on July 30 for Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group of India, during which he affirmed that Vietnam welcomes foreign investors, including Indian enterprises, to expand investment in the country.

- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Malaysian counterpart Anwar Ibrahim held phone talks on July 30 at the latter’s request, discussing regional issues and bilateral cooperation.

Chairman Man extended his warm greetings to Lao NA President Saysomphone Phomvihane and other high-ranking leaders of the Lao Party and State. - Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Tran Thanh Man emphasised Vietnam’s commitment to deepen the traditional solidarity and special friendship with Cuba at his meeting with President of the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba Esteban Lazo in Geneva, Switzerland, on July 30.

- Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Tran Thanh Man met with President of the German Bundesrat Anke Rehlinger and Speaker of the Canadian Senate Raymonde Gagné, on the sidelines of the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament at the UN headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland on July 30.

During the meeting with the Bundesrat President, NA Chairman Man affirmed that Vietnam highly values Germany’s role and position, and attaches great importance to strengthening and developing the strategic partnership between the two countries. Read full story

- Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man has held brief meetings with heads of delegations from several countries on the sidelines of the sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament (WCSP 6) in Geneva, Switzerland.

On July 30, the top Vietnamese legislator met with Valentina Matviyenko, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of Russia; Fukushiro Nukaga, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan; Seah Kian Peng, Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore; Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of Azerbaijan; and Peter Samt, President of the Federal Council of Austria. - Vietnamese authorities received 85 nationals from Cambodia at the Hoa Lu International Border Gate in the southern province of Dong Nai on July 30 following their detention in connection with alleged online fraud operations in the neighbouring country.

A week ago, the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia had a working session with local authorities to interview and verify the information that the 85 Vietnamese citizens had been detained in Kratie province for involvement in online scams and criminal activities. The detention followed a nationwide crackdown on online fraud launched under the directive of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet. Read full story

- Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Gen. Tea Seiha will co-chair with his Thai counterpart the General Border Committee (GBC) Meeting scheduled to be held in Cambodia on August 4, the Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP) reported.

The Cambodian news agency quoted Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, as saying that the Royal Government of Cambodia and its armed forces have remained fully committed to implementing all terms of the ceasefire agreement, which include complete cessation of all hostilities, no mobilisation or deployment of additional troops, both armies' maintenance of positions from midnight July 28, and establishment of working groups to serve as communications channels. - The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on July 30 issued a tsunami warning after an 8.8-magnitude earthquake struck off Russia’s far eastern Kamchatka peninsula.

According to Phivolcs, based on analysis and tsunami forecast models from the US Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre (PTWC), coastal areas of the Philippines in the Pacific Ocean are expected to experience tsunami waves of nearly one metre. These tsunami waves are predicted to continue for several hours./. Read full story
