Theproject expanded the section from kilometre 947 to kilometre 987 under abuild-operate-transfer (BOT) contract and was finished seven monthsahead of schedule.
The expansion, which requiredan investment of 1.49 trillion VND (69 million USD), was designedfollowing the technical standard scale of a third-grade road with amaximum speed of 80 kilometres per hour and a 20.5 metre-roadbedincluding four lanes for motor vehicles and two lanes for othervehicles.
The same day, another section of the 1AHighway stretching 118 kilometres in the central coastal province ofBinh Thuan officially opened to traffic to ease congestion on thisnational key route.
The road’s construction isworth 5.11 trillion VND (237 million USD) funded by government bonds andanother BOT project with a total investment of 2.59 trillion VND (120million USD).
As the backbone of the nationaltransport system, National Highway 1A runs through half of the provincesand cities in the country, linking Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City andCan Tho.-VNA
