Prime Minister wraps up Malaysia trip to attend 47th ASEAN Summit

PM Pham Minh Chinh's attendance at and practical contributions to the 47th ASEAN Summit and related summits reaffirmed the strategic importance of ASEAN in Vietnam’s foreign policy. It also conveyed a strong message of Vietnam’s proactive, active, and responsible participation in building a united, resilient, inclusive, and sustainable ASEAN Community.

Hanoi (VNA) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and a Vietnamese delegation arrived in Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport on October 28 evening, concluding their successful working trip to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Malaysia at the invitation of PM Anwar Ibrahim.

During his three days in Kuala Lumpur, PM Chinh had a busy schedule with nearly 50 multilateral and bilateral activities, including attending ASEAN meetings and events, ASEAN summits with partners, and holding bilateral meetings with almost all ASEAN leaders as well as leaders of partner countries and international organisations participating in the summits.

His attendance at and practical contributions to the 47th ASEAN Summit and related summits reaffirmed the strategic importance of ASEAN in Vietnam’s foreign policy. It also conveyed a strong message of Vietnam’s proactive, active, and responsible participation in building a united, resilient, inclusive, and sustainable ASEAN Community. At the same time, it demonstrated Vietnam’s efforts to help maintain and strengthen ASEAN’s central role and responsible voice for peace, stability, and development in the region and the world.

In particular, through bilateral meetings between PM Chinh and leaders of various countries and organisations, both sides reached new directions for cooperation that meet the requirements of both parties in the new phase of development and in emerging fields.

The outcomes of the PM’s trip continue to effectively implement the foreign policy set forth by the 13th National Party Congress, Conclusion No. 59-KL/TW of the Politburo on orientations for Vietnam’s participation in ASEAN until 2030, Directive No. 25-CT/TW of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat on enhancing multilateral diplomacy until 2030, and Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW of the Politburo on international integration in the new context./.

Top legislator calls for strict discipline to further enhance quality of NA operations

Minister of Foreign Affairs receives Japan’s Tochigi Governor

Trung suggested that Tochigi continue to effectively implement signed agreements and further strengthen cooperation in areas that can create new development momentum for Vietnam, such as science and technology, digital transformation, innovation, and the training of high-quality human resources.

PM suggests acceleration of Laos–Vietnam University establishment

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said the two sides should strengthen the teaching and learning of Vietnamese and Lao in both countries, including introducing Vietnamese as an optional foreign language in Lao schools, while continuing academic exchanges and programmes on tradition education to nurture the special bilateral relationship, he said.

Cook Islands attaches importance to ties with Vietnam

Sir Tom Marsters, Representative of King Charles III to the Cook Islands welcomed the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Cook Islands and Vietnam in April 2022, describing it as laying a long-term vision for friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Government sets out coordinated plan for 2026 elections

The plan also aims to ensure that the elections are conducted in a democratic, equal and law-abiding manner, while being safe and cost-effective, truly becoming a nationwide civic event, thus contributing to strengthening and enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the state apparatus and building a socialist rule-of-law state of Vietnam of the people, by the people and for the people.
