Tet celebration held for Vietnamese in Japan

More than 300 Vietnamese people living in the central and southern regions of Japan on February 18 gathered at a festival in Hiroshima prefecture to welcome the Lunar New Year (Tet) of the Dragon.

Tokyo (VNA) – More than 300 Vietnamese people living in the centraland southern regions of Japan on February 18 gathered at a festival inHiroshima prefecture to welcome the Lunar New Year (Tet) of the Dragon.

There are over 70,000 Vietnamese people in the central andsouthern regions as well as the Kyushu region.

Vietnamese Consul General in Fukuoka Vu Chi Mai said that events held on the occasion of the twocountries’ festivals have contributed to promoting mutual understanding andstrengthening cohesion between the two peoples.

Member of the Japanese House of RepresentativesMinoru Terada affirmed that the Japanese government and local authoritiestreasure their friendship with Vietnam, and hope to receive more students andskilled labourers from the Southeast Asian country.

At the festival, many traditional artperformances of the two countries were held such as making Japanese mochi (atype of rice cake), calligraphy, Japanese music and drama, and Vietnamesebamboo dance./.

Vietnam-Japan sculpture exhibition to bring artists together in Kanagawa

The “Dialogue” exhibition in Japan's Kanagawa prefecture from November 8-11 will feature more than 30 works by artists from both countries, including 26 pieces by 13 contemporary Vietnamese sculptors from different generations.
