Hanoi (VNA) – North Macedonia is willing to serve as a gateway for Vietnamese goods to enter the European market and Balkan region, North Macedonian President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova told a Vietnamese diplomat.
During a recent meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador to Bulgaria and North Macedonia Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, who presented her credentials, the North Macedonian President highlighted the 30-year friendship between the two countries and affirmed the European country’s respect for Vietnam’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political system.
She stated that her country supports strengthening bilateral cooperation and collaboration with Vietnam at multilateral forums, noting that there remains huge room for the two sides to expand cooperation in trade, culture, education, agriculture, health, tourism, information technology and digital transformation.
For her part, Nguyet praised North Macedonia’s socio-economic progress despite global uncertainties and affirmed she will work closely with relevant agencies to advance bilateral ties, especially through stronger delegation exchanges and deeper cooperation in economy, trade, and science–technology.
She proposed expanding cooperation in culture, education, and tourism, stressing that that Vietnam stands ready to be a bridge to strengthen North Macedonia’s relations with other ASEAN countries.
On the occasion, the Vietnamese diplomat held meetings with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, the Directorate of Diplomatic Protocol, the Directorate for Bilateral Relations with Non-European Countries, the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia, and representatives of corporations and businesses such as BUSHI and BAKO.
On the same day afternoon in Skopje, the Vietnamese Embassy hosted a programme to promote innovation and trade cooperation, and cultural exchange between the two nations.
In her remarks, Nguyet spotlighted Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements nearly 40 years after the “Doi moi” (renewal) process, and affirmed her determination to promoting friendship and bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, cultural exchange, and people-to-people relations.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Zoran Dimitrovski praised Vietnam’s strong development, highlighting the growing importance of the Asia-Pacific region for Europe. He said his country always facilitates economic, trade, and tourism cooperation with Vietnam, while supporting Vietnam at multilateral forums./.
