- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of ASEAN countries on October 26 attended the Plenary Session and the Retreat Session of the 47th ASEAN Summit chaired by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Speaking at the summit, PM Chinh emphasised that “inclusivity and sustainability” are the strategic choice and requirement of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and suggested the regional bloc strongly promote three sources of strategic strength. Read full story
- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has called for stronger solidarity, enhanced connectivity, as well as bolder innovation within the ASEAN Plus Three framework to sustain inclusive and sustainable growth while effectively responding to global challenges and shocks.
PM Chinh made the call while joining leaders of other ASEAN member states, China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea (RoK) at 28th ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Summit on October 27 as part of the ongoing 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. - Vietnam supports and will continue to fully and seriously implement its commitments under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), while proactively working with other members to enhance cooperation quality within the its framework, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said on October 27.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed three major directions for the promotion of the ASEAN-Republic of Korea (RoK) Comprehensive Strategic Partnership while addressing the 26th ASEAN-RoK Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on October 27.
Firstly, PM Chinh stressed the importance of strengthening economic, trade, and investment linkages towards a green, digital, circular, and sustainable direction; launching negotiations on the upgrade of the ASEAN-Korea Free Trade Agreement (AKFTA); and expanding cooperation into new areas such as the green economy, digital economy, artificial intelligence (AI), and supply chains. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with President of the European Council Antonio Costa to discuss bilateral cooperation and issues of mutual concerns on October 27, within the framework of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Expressing his pleasure at meeting President Antonio Costa again following their meeting at the United Nations Ocean Conference in June, PM Chinh affirmed that the European Union is one of Vietnam’s top strategic partners. Read full story
- National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man hosted a reception in Hanoi on October 27 for Speaker of the Legislative Chamber (lower house) of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Nuriddin Ismoilov, who is in Vietnam to attend the signing ceremony of the UN Convention against Cybercrime (known as the Hanoi Convention).
Welcoming his guest, Chairman Man said he is pleased to meet Ismoilov again after his successful visit to Uzbekistan and participation in the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in April. He expressed his appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to the Vietnamese delegation during the visit and thanked Uzbekistan for attending the Hanoi Convention signing ceremony, demonstrating its strong commitment to the global fight against cybercrime. - The upcoming official visit to the UK by Party General Secretary To Lam is very important for the UK, marking a step forward in bilateral relations to a "new, higher level," UK Ambassador to Vietnam Iain Frew has stated.
In an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency, the diplomat highlighted the significance of the trip - the first by a Party General Secretary of Vietnam to the UK in 13 years, stressing that one of the most significant things in the visit will be a high-level political dialogue between the two nations’ leaders. - Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien on October 26 had a working session with US Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy and the Environment Jacob Helberg on the sidelines of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The two officials discussed bilateral economic and trade relations as well as potential areas for deeper cooperation. They agreed that despite difficulties, the Vietnam–US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has continued to grow fruitfully. Read full story
- Torrential rain and rising floods are affecting the central region, particularly Hue and Da Nang cities, where river levels continue to surge, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
From late October 26 to the early hours of October 27, areas stretching from Hue city to Quang Ngai province experienced heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, with some places recording over 100mm. The Bach Ma station in Hue measured 119.8mm, while the Rach Bun station in Dong Thap recorded 165.8mm./. Read full story
