Cambodia tightens management of online fraud-related casinos

Cambodian authorities have decided to close four casinos in the coastal province of Preah Sihanouk due to their involvement in online fraud.

Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodian authorities have decided to close four casinos in the coastal province of Preah Sihanouk due to their involvement in online fraud.

In a statement released on November 3, the General Secretariat of the Cambodian Commercial Gambling Commission (CCGC) confirmed that the establishments fined and sealed included Jin Pei Group, Jin Pei, G.C. Casino, and Jin Pei Casino 4.

The CCGC said the legal measure was taken under the direction of the Cambodian Government as part of a nationwide campaign to crack down on high-tech crimes.

Earlier, in early November, Cambodian authorities also suspended the licence of Silver Star Casino in Bavet city, Svay Rieng province — an area bordering Vietnam’s Tay Ninh province — for its involvement in online fraud.

On November 1, Cambodian law enforcement agencies raided a suspected location linked to online activities at the casino and arrested 23 foreign nationals, including one Taiwanese and two Malaysians./.
