– Party General Secretary To Lam has called for breakthroughs in military modernisation, innovation, and digital transformation as the Central Military Commission is preparing for the 12th Congress of the Party Organisation of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) for the 2025–2030 term.

Presiding over the meeting of the commission’s Standing Committee in Hanoi on July 31, Party chief Lam, also the commission's Secretary, stressed that the upcoming congress must set clear goals in advancing science – technology and innovation as well as building each officer and soldier as a “digital warrior.” Read full story

– Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held a meeting with representatives of the diplomatic corps in Vietnam on July 31 to brief them on the reorganisation of administrative units and two-tier local administration of the country.

He stated that drawing on its 40-year renewal (Doi moi) process, Vietnam aims to become an upper middle-income country with a modern industrial base by 2030; and a high-income developed nation by 2045. To realise this vision, Vietnam must adopt innovative thinking and decisive actions, building on three main pillars of socialist democracy, socialist rule-of-law state, and socialist-oriented market economy, with the people placed at the centre, as the subject, motivation, and resources of development. – Permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee's Secretariat Tran Cam Tu hosted a reception in Hanoi on July 31 for Tanaka Yu, vice chairman of the Presidium and acting head of the Secretariat of the Japanese Communist Party (JCP) Central Committee.

At the event, the Vietnamese official described the Japanese delegation’s visit to Vietnam to engage in the 11th theoretical exchange on building peace and ensuring human rights in the new world context as a testament to the close cooperation between the two Communist Parties. Read full story

– The Vietnamese communities in areas affected by the recent earthquake with tsunami warnings in eastern Russia are currently safe, spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang stated at a regular press briefing on July 31.

In response to questions about the powerful earthquake in Russia’s Kamchatka region and tsunami warnings along the Pacific coasts of Japan and the US, and parts of Alaska (the US), Hang said Vietnam’s diplomatic missions in these countries promptly contacted key community representatives, advised citizens to move to safe areas, stay informed, and follow local safety guidelines. – The third edition of the Vietnam International Logistics Exhibition (VILOG 2025) officially opened in Ho Chi Minh City on July 31, featuring 480 booths of nearly 350 companies from 20 countries and territories.
