Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked the Vietnam Television (VTV) to spearhead digital transformation, embedding artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud computing across its entire production–broadcast–distribution–audience engagement processes in order to expand its global reach.

Addressing the 12th Congress of VTV’s Party Organisation for the 2025-2030 tenure in Hanoi on July 30, PM Chinh praised the broadcaster for effectively serving as a bridge between the Party, the State, and the people, describing it as a platform for public engagement and a source of motivation and inspiration during times of hardship and opportunity. - Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang held talks with his Indonesian counterpart Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin in Hanoi on July 30 within the framework of the latter’s official visit to Vietnam from July 29 to 30.

During the talks, Minister Giang emphasised that Vietnam and Indonesia are neighbouring countries sharing a maritime border and are both active, responsible members of the ASEAN Community. Read full story

- The corporate bond market is increasingly playing an important role in providing medium- and long-term capital for infrastructure development and sustainable growth in Vietnam, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Bond Market Association Pham Phu Khoi said at a conference.

At the Vietnam Bonds and Credit Conference 2025 held in Hanoi on July 29 by the Credit Guarantee and Investment Facility (CGIF), Moody’s Ratings and VIS Rating, Khôi said that amid increasing demand for investment in infrastructure, energy, production and technological innovation, corporate bonds will become a strategic financial tool, helping the State and enterprises raise capital effectively, reducing pressure on the State budget and bank credit system. - A large-scale livestream campaign is set to kick off as part of a nationwide effort to harness digital platforms and media to enhance the value, market reach, and appeal of Vietnamese agricultural specialties.

The campaign will feature two main livestream sessions: a “Daily Livestream” from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, and a “Mega Livestream” beginning at 12:00 p.m. from Jin Pro Network’s headquarters in Hanoi. Read full story

- From August 1, residents of Hanoi will enjoy a range of complimentary services when accessing public administrative services, following approval from the municipal People's Committee on July 30.

- The People’s Procuracy of central Vietnam's Ha Tinh province has approved a decision to initiate legal proceedings agaisnt and temporarily detain the driver of a passenger bus involved in a tragic accident that killed 10 people on July 25.

According to the provincial procuracy, the driver Le Ngoc Thanh, born in 1989 and residing in in the central province of Thanh Hoa, has been charged with “violating road traffic regulations” under Clause 3, Article 260 of the Penal Code. Read full story

- The Vietnam Research and Development Forum 2025 opened in the northern province of Ninh Binh on July 30, aiming to support Vietnam in developing an effective national R&D strategy grounded in international collaboration and innovation-driven policies.

Co-organised by the Association of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts (AVSE Global) and the Ninh Binh People’s Committee, the two-day event brings together around 100 domestic and foreign scientists and experts, policymakers, and representatives from local and international agencies and businesses./. Vietnam becomes fastest growing market for Norwegian salmon in Southeast Asia

The Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC) reported at the “Norwegian seafood industry in Vietnam market 2026” event held in Ho Chi Minh City on March 25 that fresh Norwegian salmon exports to Vietnam jumped 16% in volume in the first two months of 2026 compared with a year earlier, while frozen salmon shipments surged about 37%.
