Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Party General Secretary To Lam has urged a bold transformation in the mindset and methods of internal political security operations to safeguard political stability as the nation is navigating complicated challenges in the region and the world as a whole.

He made the request during a meeting on July 28 with the officers of the Department of Internal Political Security under the Ministry of Public Security on the threshold of the 80th anniversary of the People's Public Security Forces' Traditional Day (August 19). Read full story

- Vietnam’s participation in the upcoming 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament (WCSP) reaffirms its trust in dialogue, solidarity, and peace, according to Swiss Ambassador to Vietnam Thomas Gass.

The 6th WCSP, hosted by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) under the theme “A world in turmoil: Parliamentary cooperation and multilateralism for peace, justice and prosperity for all”, is scheduled to take place from July 29 to 31, at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will attend the conference and conduct a series of bilateral engagements during his visit to Switzerland. Read full story

- Vietnam has made tremendous progress in combating human trafficking in recent years, Chief of Mission of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in Vietnam Kendra Rinas has stated.

Talking to the Vietnam News Agency on the occasion of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2025, Rinas underlined efforts made by Vietnamese authorities in the fight against human trafficking, noting that under the leadership of the Government and the Ministry of Public Security, in coordination with relevant agencies, the revised Law on Human Trafficking Prevention and Control officially took effect on July 1, 2025. - Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung has hailed the opening of the US-based Coherent Corporation’s new plant in Nhon Trach 1 Industrial Park in the southern province of Dong Nai as a pivotal step in cementing Vietnam’s role in the global hi-tech value chain.

The 127-million-USD facility, inaugurated on July 28, is set to produce silicon carbide semiconductors, optical glass, and equipment. Read full story

- Hanoi welcomed an estimated 2.8 million visitors in July, up over 10% year-on-year, of which international arrivals surged by 25.2% to 553,000, while domestic visitors reached 2.25 million, a year-on-year increase of 7.1%.

Tourism revenue for the month hit 10.68 trillion VND (408.41 million USD), up nearly 14% from July 2024, the municipal Department of Tourism reported. Read full story

- Vietnam's hotels and destinations gained regional spotlight at the 2025 Asia Architecture Design Awards (AADA) and Asia Hospitality Awards (AHA), hosted for the first time in tandem by the Asia Awards Organisation (AAO) in Seoul, the Republic of Korea (RoK).

Held at The Shilla Seoul, a venue symbolising the fusion of contemporary architecture and Korean hospitality, the event marked a convergence of design and experience under the theme “Vibrant Asia”. Over 200 architects, designers, hoteliers, and industry leaders from 10 countries participated, alongside embassy representatives from Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
