- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Russian counterpart Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin held talks in Hanoi on January 14, agreeing to increase dialogue and enhance political trust to foster the countries' comprehensive cooperation.
Hailing the significance of his guest's official visit, which marks the start of the year celebrating the 75th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations, Chinh expressed his belief that it will create strong momentum for further strengthening the Vietnam - Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the coming years. - Party General Secretary To Lam gave a reception in Hanoi on January 14 for visiting Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin.
During the reception, Lam emphasised the significance of Mishustin’s visit, saying that it takes place at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the diplomatic relations, and is Mishustin's first visit to Vietnam in his capacity as Russian Prime Minister. - National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man on January 14 met with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin, who is on an official visit to Vietnam from January 14-15.
Welcoming the Prime Minister and the delegation of the Russian Government, Man said that the visit comes at a significant time, as the two countries commence a series of key activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations, which laid the foundation for the fine traditional friendship and the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership at present. - State President Luong Cuong visited his predecessors Nguyen Minh Triet and Truong Tan Sang on January 14, ahead of the Lunar New Year (Tet) and the 95th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - 2025).

- More than 150 documents, items, and photos will be on display at the Vietnam National Museum of History in an exhibition celebrating the 95th anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) (February 3, 1930 - 2025) and toward the upcoming 14th National Party Congress.

- A workshop themed US-Vietnam Getting to Net-Zero: Roadmap to Sustainable Industrial Development was held in Ho Chi Minh City on January 14 by the US Commercial Service in the city, in partnership with the International Financial Centre (IFC) and Saigon Tel.
Susan Burns, US Consul General in the city, said that Vietnam has emerged as one of the leading manufacturing hubs in Southeast Asia, attracting foreign investors thanks to its policies focused on building an export-oriented economy. Read full story
- The National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (NIHBT) said that it needs about 50,000 units of blood for emergencies and treatment before and during the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, calling for more donations from the community.
Each week, the institute needs about 9,500 units, but this demand could increase to 10,000 - 10,500 units per week in the weeks leading up to the holiday, the NIHBT said, adding that blood type O accounts for some 50% of the total need. Read full story
- The central province of Quang Tri on January 14 received the first-class Labour Order from the President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in recognition of its contributions to the enhancement of ties with the neighbouring country and the development of Champasak province.
The decoration is also meant to honour Quang Tri's achievements during the celebration of 45 years since the signing of the Laos - Vietnam Friendship and Cooperation Treaty (July 18, 1977 - 2022) and the 60th anniversary of the two countries' diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962 - 2022). - Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has asked the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to complete the comprehensive integration and smooth connectivity to the national fisheries database (VN-Fishbase), vessel monitoring system (VMS), and electronic traceability system (eCDT) in Q1, ensuring seamless data flow from central to local authorities, a move to clamp down on illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
Chairing the 12th meeting of the national steering committee for IUU fishing prevention and control in Hanoi on January 14, Ha, also head of the committee, stated that while significant progress has been made, some localities have yet to fulfill their responsibilities in the work, calling for the establishment of clear regulations on managing, operating, and updating fishing data as well as responsibilities of competent forces./.
