- The Politburo’s Working Groups No. 1, 3, and 4 held meetings in Hanoi on September 8 with representatives of the Standing Boards of the Party Committees of Dong Nai, Vinh Long, Dong Thap, Quang Tri, Thai Nguyen, and Phu Tho to provide opinions on draft documents and personnel plans to be submitted to the Party Congresses for the 2025-2030 term.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stressed that legislation must both remove obstacles and create an open yet manageable framework that fosters development while chairing the Government’s first law-making session in the month to review and give opinions on nine draft laws on September 8.

He underlined that law-making should strengthen the Party’s leadership, broaden consultations with stakeholders, facilitate growth, serve the people, streamline administrative procedures, promote decentralisation, and stay closely aligned with realities. Read full story

- Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh on September 8 requested inspections on the compliance with policies and laws by credit institutions and enterprises in gold trading activities, anti-money laundering, the issuance and use of invoices and documents related to gold trading, and other relevant issues.

In a Government Office document, Binh assigned the Government Inspectorate to coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Public Security, and the State Bank of Vietnam, to soon establish an inspection team on September 9.Read full story

- Vietnam’s pepper industry recorded export revenue of more than 1 billion USD in the first eight months of 2025, the highest level for the period in seven years, according to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA).

The surge was driven by stable global demand and limited supply, which has kept export prices at a high level. Read full story

- The AVAC Vietnam JSC exported its second batch of African swine fever (ASF) vaccine, AVAC ASF LIVE, comprising 340,000 doses, to the Philippines on September 8.

Nguyen Van Diep, General Director of AVAC Vietnam, said the Philippines had already imported 460,000 doses and found the vaccine to be highly safe and effective. The latest order of 340,000 doses, he noted, reflects the country’s continued confidence in AVAC ASF LIVE. Read full story

- The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has officially adopted a resolution on preparations for the High-Level Meeting on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response, co-facilitated by Ambassador Do Hung Viet, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, and Ambassador Paula Narváez, Permanent Representative of Chile.

The high-level meeting will take place in September 2026 during the 81st UNGA High-Level Week, focusing on advancing multilateral and intergenerational approaches to pandemic prevention, preparedness and response, based on equity and solidarity. Read full story

Two military officers promoted to rank of Senior Lieutenant General
