Tuyen Quang (VNA) – National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man on August 16 led a high-ranking delegation to attend a ceremony in the northern province of Tuyen Quang to inaugurate a memorial house dedicated to late President Ton Duc Thang and offered incense in commemoration of late President Ho Chi Minh and other revolutionary predecessors.

The event formed part of the “Return to the Roots” programme held by the NA Standing Committee to mark the 80th anniversary of the Tan Trao Congress of People’s Representatives (August 16, 1945 – 2025) and in the lead-up to the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s first general election to the National Assembly (January 6, 1946 – 2026).

The event took place at the relic site of the NA Standing Committee within the Tan Trao National Special Relic Site in Tuyen Quang province. In a solemn atmosphere, the delegates cut the ribbon to inaugurate the memorial house dedicated to President Ton Duc Thang, who was honoured as a steadfast communist, an exemplary leader and a shining model of revolutionary morality.

Writing in the visitors’ book, Chairman Man recalled that this day 80 years ago, the Congress of People’s Representatives convened in Tan Trao, adopting key decisions that paved the way for the August Revolution’s success and the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, ushering in an era of independence, freedom and people’s mastery.

The NA Chairman affirmed that generations of NA deputies remain steadfast in their faith in the Party, committed to studying and following the moral example of President Ton Duc Thang. He stressed the determination to uphold solidarity, responsibility and innovation, striving to overcome all challenges to build a strong and comprehensive legislature worthy of the people’s trust and expectations, thus contributing to leading the nation firmly into a new era.

The top legislator called on Tuyen Quang authorities to continue preserving and promoting the memorial sites dedicated to President Ton Duc Thang, the relic site of the NA Standing Committee, and the wider Tan Trao special historical complex, turning them into “red addresses” for educating younger generations on patriotism and revolutionary traditions.

Later the same day, Chairman Man and the delegation offered flowers and incense in tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at the Na Nua Hut within the Tan Trao National Special Relic Site, where he lived and worked from May to August 1945 to direct the August General Uprising.

They also offered incense at the “President Ho Chi Minh in Tan Trao” statue, at the Tan Trao Communal House – where the historic Congress of People’s Representatives took place on August 16–17, 1945, and at the memorial house for revolutionary predecessors who lived and worked in Tuyen Quang during the pre-uprising period and the nine-year resistance war against French colonialists.

At each site, the delegation expressed profound gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh and the revolutionary forerunners, vowing to remain steadfast on the path of national independence and socialism chosen by the Party and President Ho Chi Minh.

They pledged to uphold solidarity, courage and the nation’s cultural traditions while striving to overcome challenges and fulfil the goals of building a prosperous, strong and modern Vietnam./.
