Hanoi (VNA) – Party General Secretary To Lam, together with members of the delegation of National Assembly (NA) deputies of Hanoi, on April 17 met with voters from Ba Dinh, Hai Ba Trung, and Dong Da districts ahead of the 9th session of the 15th NA.

After listening to the delegation’s report on the outcomes of the NA’s 8th session and the progress made on addressing voter concerns from the previous meeting, voters expressed their delight and agreement with the decisive, urgent actions and high sense of responsibility taken by the Party and Government in implementing groundbreaking policies. These policies are seen as laying the foundation for the nation’s development, with many long-term strategies being sharp, flexible, and timely, allowing the country to enter a new era of rapid, sustainable development, they commented.

Voters suggested making thorough assessments of the implementation of existing laws, ensuring consistency and integration within the Vietnamese legal system, while learning from the legal frameworks of other countries to incorporate global wisdom.

They also voiced support for the initiative to popularise digital knowledge to all, and raised concerns related to a number of issues, including the development of transport infrastructure, urging further attention to expanding railways, airways, and roads.

Noting down all opinions of voters, General Secretary Lam said that efforts are being taken to review and adjust the country’s economic policies to strengthen the economy, enhance resilience, expand the domestic market, and increase international trade opportunities, thus reducing dependence and avoiding vulnerability. Despite challenges, the government remains steadfast in its commitment to achieving economic growth, he underlined.

The Party chief affirmed that the restructuring of administrative units and two-level local administration reorganisation are being carried out with urgency and are being closely monitored to prevent delays. The restructured local administrations must be streamlined, efficient, and responsive to the people’s needs, supporting rapid and sustainable growth, national security, international relations, and a better quality of life for people, he stated.

Regarding preparations of draft documents for the upcoming 14th National Party Congress, the leader noted that they include important new perspectives on national development such as establishing a new growth model, building a modern national education system, fostering scientific and technological innovation, and boosting the private sector as a key driver of economic growth. He affirmed that feedback will continue to be gathered to refine these documents.

General Secretary Lam highlighted three main tasks for the country - firmly protecting national sovereignty and ensure peace and stability; completing set targets for 2030 and 2045, turning the country into a developed, high-income nation; and improving the standard of living for all people, ensuring that every person has access to prosperity, happiness, and education.

Hailing the achievements and contributions that the Party Organisation, administration and people of Hanoi have made to the overall success of the country, he urged the capital city to continue its focus on solving pressing issues, particularly traffic congestion and environmental pollution.

The leader suggested two key issues for Hanoi to focus on in the coming period - ensuring food safety and preventing the sale of unverified food products, and continuing to improve education policies, ensuring quality teaching and learning conditions, and supporting school meals to improve students' nutrition and health./.
