Vietnam’s top badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh defeated 2-1 over World number 1 player Lee Chong Wei, at the 16th round of the Super Series Singapore badminton tournament on June 11.
Minh, ranked 11th in the world prevailed over his Malaysia rival 24-22, 20-22 and 21-19.
On the phone, Minh said he went crazy because of the victory as he could’t believe he could do that.
Minh has been the first Vietnamese badminton player, who won over the world leading player.
Minh will play against Chinese Bao Chunlai, who ranks the world’s 16th in the quarter final today, June 12.
He lost 1-2 to Bao Chunlai at last year’s Super Series./.
