Algiers (VNA) – Algerian diplomat Noureddine Djoudi, Chairman of the International Association of Algerian Revolution Friends, has hailed Vietnam’s post-war reconstruction and development, stressing that the Southeast Asian country becomes a model for nations in their struggle for independence and freedom.

In an interview granted to Vietnam News Agency (VNA) correspondents in Algeria on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2, 1945 – 2025), Djoudi said President Ho Chi Minh is not only the great leader of Vietnam but also an inspiring symbol for oppressed nations worldwide, including Algeria.

He said that the Algerian people are particularly impressed by the resilience and strategic brilliance of Vietnam’s revolutionary leaders such as President Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap, who led the nation to the historic Dien Bien Phu victory that resounded across the five continents and shook the globe.

Djoudi also highly valued Vietnam’s post-war reconstruction and development, stressing that the Algerian people are deeply impressed by Vietnam’s achievements - rising from a nation devastated by two wars to become a dynamic country in Asia, particularly in science and technology.

Regarding the bilateral ties, Djoudi affirmed that the Vietnam – Algeria friendship, forged in the struggles for national liberation, remains strong today. He noted that President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and the government of Algeria attach great importance to strengthening relations with Vietnam, considering it a special “brotherly” bond.

Algeria, he added, is now pursuing a path similar to Vietnam’s, including the efficient management and exploitation of natural resources.

The bilateral relations should be strengthened not only in politics but also in economy, trade, culture, and education, he noted, stressing the key role played by young people in preserving and advancing the traditional relationship.

To further boost ties between the two peoples, he stressed the need to expand people-to-people exchanges, educational cooperation, and cultural activities, especially targeting the youth.

The people of both nations, especially the younger generation, must always remember the sacrifices of their predecessors for today’s independence and freedom, he said, stressing that peace did not come naturally but was earned through the blood and lives of many generations.

The younger generation bears the responsibility of deepening Vietnam–Algeria friendship, and they should further enhance connection to keep this special relationship alive, he went on./.
