VinaPhone joins Asia’s Conexus alliance

VinaPhone joined Conexus, one of Asia's biggest mobile alliance with the aim of seeking more opportunities for cooperation with other big mobile phone providers in the region to benefit local users.
Vietnam’s leading mobile phone serviceprovider – VinaPhone joined Conexus, one of Asia’s biggest mobilealliance, on November 17, with the aim of seeking more opportunitiesfor cooperation with other big mobile phone providers in the region tobenefit local users.

According to Dr Kaizad Heerjee, Chairman of Conexus Mobile Alliance,VinaPhone’s participation helps expand Conexus customer footprints toover 240 million mobile subscribers.

In a press release issued the same day, Dr. Kaizad Heerjee said as theearliest adopter of 3G services in Vietnam , VinaPhone will be able tohelp promote and expand the benefits of the alliance to theircustomers, adding Conexus looked to offer VinaPhone’s customers trueconvenience and simplicity as they use the services that Conexus bringsto the market.

Last month, VinaPhone launched its Vinaphone 3G network, providing sixnew services including mobile internet, mobile broadband, video call,mobile camera, mobile TV and a 3G portal.

The company’s 3G network so far covers 13 provinces and cities nationwide and it plans to cover the whole country by 2010.

VinaPhone currently stands behind Viettel, and MobiFone in the number of mobile subscribers in Vietnam.

Vietnam by late May had seven mobile service providers, which arecatering services for a total of over 76 million mobile phonesubscribers./.
