- Party General Secretary To Lam, together with members of the delegation of National Assembly (NA) deputies of Hanoi, on April 17 met with voters from Ba Dinh, Hai Ba Trung, and Dong Da districts ahead of the 9th session of the 15th NA.

After listening to the delegation’s report on the outcomes of the NA’s 8th session and the progress made on addressing voter concerns from the previous meeting, voters expressed their delight and agreement with the decisive, urgent actions and high sense of responsibility taken by the Party and Government in implementing groundbreaking policies. - State President Luong Cuong on April 17 hosted Prime Minister of Laos Sonexay Siphandone, who is in Vietnam for the ongoing 4th Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit.

During the meeting, President Cuong reaffirmed the Vietnamese Party and State’s consistent policy of attaching importance and giving the highest priority to strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation with Laos. Read full story

- State President Luong Cuong on April 17 proposed the United Nations (UN) to continue supporting Vietnam in several priority areas, including realising the Sustainable Development Goals, building a rule-of-law state, digital transformation, green transition, addressing climate change, and tackling global challenges.

Receiving UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed, who is in Vietnam to attend the 4th Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit, President Cuong emphasised that this is the first multilateral summit on green growth, green transition, and sustainable development hosted by Vietnam. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh urged the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) to enhance cooperation initiatives in Vietnam’s push towards sustainable development while hosting a reception in Hanoi on April 17 for its Director-General Sang-Hyup Kim, who is in Vietnam to attend the 4th Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit.

Welcoming the GGGI’s goal to mobilise an additional 1 billion USD in green financing for Vietnam for the 2024-2028 period, PM Chinh highlighted Vietnam's commitment to accelerating energy transition, green growth, and sustainable development, seeing them as key drivers for the nation's growth in the new era. - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son held a meeting with Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) and Executive Secretary of its Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), in Hanoi on April 17.

Deputy PM Son told his guest that Vietnam supports multilateralism and the UN’ central role in promoting cooperation and addressing global challenges. He praised ESCAP’s role in advancing the UN’major directions in the Asia-Pacific and fostering cooperation with regional organisations such as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). - The Ministry of Industry and Trade has been tasked with building and operating an early warning system for trade defence to detect potential lawsuits from foreign countries initiating trade remedy investigations against Vietnamese exports.

Part of a new Government decree, the early warning system aims to provide timely information to businesses and industry associations, enabling them to take preventive measures and prepare appropriate responses. Read full story

- Vietnam Airlines has announced that it will operate its first commercial flight from Terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on April 17.

Hue city moves to deepen multifaceted cooperation with Austrian partners

Prime Minister urges Hanoi to target higher growth, become leading innovation hub

The PM emphasised that Hanoi must achieve its 11% growth target for 2026 through comprehensive solutions and regular reviews of growth scenarios. He called on the city to unlock growth potential in processing, manufacturing, trade, services, finance, banking, insurance, transport, logistics, construction and real estate, while controlling inflation and market stability.

Cambodian expert hails AFF 2026 as milestone in multilateral party diplomacy
