Hanoi (VNA) – The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

– At the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and President of China Xi Jinping, Vietnamese State President Luong Cuong and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam attended a military parade in Beijing on September 3 commemorating the 80th anniversary of the world people’s victory over fascism.

The event brought together heads of state, government leaders and high-ranking delegations from many countries around the world. Read full story

– Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang hosted a welcome ceremony for Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba Corps General Álvaro López Miera in Hanoi on September 3.

The Cuban defence chief is paying an official visit to Vietnam from August 31 to September 6, during which he attended a ceremony celebrating the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s August Revolution and National Day on September 2. Read full story

– General Trinh Van Quyet, Chairman of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army had a meeting with visiting Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba Corps General Álvaro López Miera in Hanoi on September 3.

Quyet highlighted that cooperation in Party and political affairs between the Vietnam People’s Army and the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces has yielded important outcomes in recent years, especially following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in December 2022. Read full story

– Deputy Minister of National Defence Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien and his Russian counterpart Colonel General Alexander Vasilyevich Fomin co-chaired the 8th Vietnam – Russia Defence Strategy Dialogue in Hanoi on September 3.

The two officers exchanged views on global and regional situation and issues of mutual concern. Chien affirmed that Vietnam consistently pursues its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation, and development, as well as diversification and multilateralisation of international relations. – A ceremony was held in Caracas, Venezuela, on September 2 to mark the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and the National Day of Vietnam (September 2).

The event was jointly organised by the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), the Caracas municipal government, and the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela. Read full story

– Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has issued Decision No. 30/2025/QD-TTg, establishing new regulations for inter-agency coordination to prevent and combat the financing of activities that threaten Vietnam’s national security or are linked to terrorism.

The decision, which will take effect on October 15, 2025, outlines the coordination principles, objectives, forms, scope, and responsibilities in preventing and combating activities by organisations and individuals abroad to transfer funds and assets to activities that harm national security or terrorist acts. – Vietnam exported nearly 5.9 million tonnes of rice worth over 3 billion USD as of August 15, according to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA).

The country's rice exports reached 5.87 million tonnes, valued at more than 3 billion USD, up 2.88% in volume but down 16% in value compared with the same period in 2024. Read full story

– Hanoi received around 2.08 million visitors during the four-day National Day holidays from August 30 to September 2, three times higher than the figure in the same period last year, the municipal Department of Tourism reported.

Of the total, more than 80,000 were international travellers, up 35% year-on-year. Tourism revenue reached approximately 4.5 trillion VND (about 180 million USD), an increase of 80% compared to 2024. Read full story./.

In the coming days, the MoFA will continue to work closely with the An Giang provincial People’s Committee, the Phu Quoc Special Zone, relevant agencies, the Vietnamese Embassy in India, the Embassy of India in Hanoi and the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City to closely monitor the situation, carry out consular and citizen protection work, and repatriate the bodies of the deceased tourists to India in accordance with the wishes of their families as soon as possible.

Vietnam seeks stronger economic links with Egypt's Red Sea Governorate

Beyond traditional exports, there remains considerable room to expand bilateral trade. Vietnam, Belgium boost parliamentary cooperation, deepen bilateral relations

Nghia described the ongoing 500-day campaign as a sacred mission that embodies the Vietnamese tradition of remembering those who served and sacrificed for the nation.
