Hanoi (VNA) - A total of some 7,000 foreign nationals have been rescued from call-centre scam gangs in Myanmar where they had been forced to work since last month, according to Thai security sources.
They were rescued and taken into protective custody by two Myanmar ethnic armed forces that conducted rescue operations in areas under their control near Thailand.
The ethnic forces are calling for Thailand and other countries whose citizens are among the rescued workers to speed up repatriation.
These foreigners were forced to work in phone scam operations, mainly in the Myanmar-Thailand border areas./.
