Sydney (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Pham Hung Tam had a working session with member of the House of Representatives and Assistant Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs Julian Hill on February 10.
Hill expressed his appreciation for the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries while highlighting the contributions made by the Vietnamese community in Australia.
He suggested both sides work closely on people-to-people exchange and promote tourism activities, noting with satisfaction the rapid increase in the number of Australian visitors to Vietnam and welcoming more Vietnamese tourists to the Australian shores.
He also commended Vietnam’s position as a major source of international students in Australia.
For his part, Tam updated the Australian official on recent strides in bilateral cooperation since the two countries elevated their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership in March last year.
He detailed the increasing mutual visits and dialogues, along with the successful implementation of various cooperation agreements in the areas of education and technology. Besides, he noted the positive growth in bilateral trade, which is becoming more balanced.
Touching on the status of the Vietnamese community in Australia, the ambassador asked for continued support for Vietnamese residents and students. He proposed enhancing Vietnamese language education in general education schools and expediting visa processing for Vietnamese students./.
