Beijing (VNA) - The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) is playing an absolute and irreplaceable role in Vietnam’s current cause of reform and building a new era, held Prof., Dr. Cheng Hanping, Director of the Vietnam Research Centre at the Zhejiang University of Technology.
Speaking to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) on the occasion of the Party's 95th founding anniversary, Prof. Cheng explained that the CPV has set a long-term vision through two centennial goals.
By 2030, marking 100 years since the Party’s founding, Vietnam aims to become a developing country with modern industry and upper-middle income. By 2045, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the nation, the country hopes to achieve developed, high-income status.
These goals are built on Vietnam’s national identity, economic conditions, and current global trends, Prof. Cheng stated, stressing that only the CPV can prioritise the interests of the people and propose such a comprehensive and ambitious strategy.
According to Prof. Cheng, these objectives are not just slogans but are backed by decisive actions. The CPV has implemented a series of key strategies to drive national development, including anti-corruption measures, administrative streamlining, and economic promotion. These efforts demonstrate the Party’s determination to fulfil its commitments.
Anti-corruption and the streamlining of the political system's organisational apparatus are particularly significant for the realisation of the two centenaries, which has drawn great public attention, he said.
The scholar held that corruption is a global challenge, but only pure and selfless communists can successfully combat it.
He noted that these efforts help deal with overlapping. Additionally, the fight against corruption and wastefulness fosters national unity and enjoys widespread public support, he added.
Assessing the road ahead, Prof. Cheng believed that Vietnam’s opportunities outweigh its challenges in the new era.
Firstly, the CPV’s internal solidarity has been increasingly reinforced, with obvious efforts. Secondly, the Party Central Committee's policies are increasingly aligned with public expectations, gaining broad support. Thirdly, as the global economic and strategic focus is shifting toward the Asia-Pacific region, Vietnam’s advantages — its dynamic workforce and their hardworking — position it well for future growth, the scholar underscored./.
