First working day of 13th Party Central Committee’s 14th plenum

The 14th plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee (PCC) elected Tran Sy Thanh, member of the PCC, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, Chairman of the municipal People's Committee, as Chairman of the 13th PCC’s Inspection Commission, on the first day of working.

Hanoi (VNA) - The 14th plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee (PCC) elected Tran Sy Thanh, member of the PCC, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, Chairman of the municipal People's Committee, as Chairman of the 13th PCC’s Inspection Commission, on the first day of working.

After Party General Secretary To Lam delivered an opening speech, Politburo member and State President Luong Cuong presided over the morning session. The PCC conducted procedures to introduced personnel to join the Politburo and Secretariat of the 14th Party Central Committee (for both re-election and first-time participation).

In the afternoon, the PCC continued to work on personnel affairs. The PCC agreed to let Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Politburo member, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, Chairman of the 13th Party Central Committee's Inspection Commission, cease holding the membership and chairmanship of the Inspection Commission to focus on the new task assigned by the Politburo.

The PCC introduced candidates for the posts of Vice Chairman of the 15th National Assembly (NA), Chairman of the 13th PCC’s Inspection Commission and Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court for the 2021-2026 term so that the Politburo can introduce to the PCC for electing Chairman of the Inspection Commission and to the NA for electing Vice Chairman of the 15th NA at the ongoing 10th session.

After that, the PCC elected Tran Sy Thanh, member of the PCC, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, Chairman of the municipal People's Committee, as Chairman of the 13th PCC’s Inspection Commission.

The PCC introduces personnel for the Presidium, the Secretariat, and delegate verification board of the 14th National Party Congress.

Later the PCC worked in groups to discuss other matters, including a draft report reviewing the leadership and direction of the 13th Party Central Committee to be submitted to the 14th National Party Congress; and a draft report on the implementation of the working regulations of the PCC, the Politburo and the Secretariat of the 13th tenure.

Participants also looked into a draft report reviewing the implementation of the working regulations of the 13th PCC’s Inspection Commission, and a report on the implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW, dated October 25, 2017, of the 12th PCC on continued reform and reorganisation of the political system’s apparatus towards efficiency and effectiveness./.
