Bangkok (VNA) – Flooding continued on October 12 in 17 provinces across Thailand, mainly in the Central Plain and the North, with water levels rising only in Suphan Buri while remaining steady or receding elsewhere.
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported that residents in eight central plain provinces – Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Suphan Buri, Ayutthaya, Pathum Thani and Nakhon Pathom – were still affected.
In the Central Plain, flood levels were increasing only in Suphan Buri, particularly in Muang, Bang Pla Ma, Song Phi Nong, Don Chedi, Doembang Nangbuat, U Thong, Nong Yasai, Sam Chuk and Dan Chang districts. Elsewhere in the region, flood levels either remained stable or began to fall.
In the Northeast, water levels were unchanged in Ubon Ratchathani and Udon Thani but had dropped in Chaiyaphum. In the East, flooding in Chachoengsao was limited to Bang Nam Prieo district, where water levels were receding.
The department said about 340,000 people had been affected by flooding in the 17 provinces, with 11 deaths reported./.
