Jakarta (VNA) – The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi) of Indonesia has announced that the price bidding stage for the 1.4 GHz radio frequency spectrum auction for broadband wireless access services will begin on October 13, through the e-Auction system.
During the registration period in August, seven telecommunications operators collected application documents. Following the submission and administrative evaluation, three companies were declared eligible, PT Eka Mas Republik, PT Telemedia Komunikasi Pratama, and PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk.
Wayan Toni Supriyanto, Director General of Digital Infrastructure at Kemkomdigi said this step not only opens opportunities for network providers to increase service capacity and coverage, but also broadens affordable internet access options for the public.
Kemkomdigi’s focus is to ensure this frequency band is fully utilised to expand the reach and quality of fixed broadband internet services, including in areas that have not been optimally served, Wayan said.
This is seen as a concrete effort by the Indonesian government to realise its goal of comprehensive digital transformation, ensuring that all citizens. whether in urban or remote areas, have access to high-speed Internet./.
