Minister of Justice receives Secretary General of Algerian Ministry of Justice

Ninh noted that Vietnam is currently stepping up efforts to improve its legal system, accelerate digital transformation, develop the private economic sector, and deepen international integration.

Hanoi (VNA) - Minister of Justice Nguyen Hai Ninh hosted a reception in Hanoi on September 9 for Mohamed Regaz, Secretary General of the Algerian Ministry of Justice.

Ninh underlined that Vietnam and Algeria have enjoyed more than six decades of traditional friendship, forged during their struggles for national independence. In recent years, cooperation has continued to expand, particularly in the fields of law and justice. Since the signing of a memorandum of understanding in 2010, the two ministries have organised numerous exchange visits, fostering practical collaboration.

He noted that Vietnam is currently stepping up efforts to improve its legal system, accelerate digital transformation, develop the private economic sector, and deepen international integration. In this regard, the Politburo’s Resolution No. 66-NQ/TW on reforming law-making and enforcement has been identified as a cornerstone for driving national development.

For his part, Regaz affirmed Algeria’s respect for its longstanding friendship with Vietnam. He expressed his hope that the two ministries would build on past achievements and soon finalise a 2026–2027 cooperation programme to advance the bilateral ties in law and justice.

On the same day, the Algerian guest held talks with Deputy Minister of Justice Nguyen Thanh Tinh.

The two sides reviewed the outcomes of cooperation to date, along with the future direction, focusing on experience sharing in law-making and legal refinement, judicial reform and the management of legal professions, application of information technology and digital transformation in judicial activities, and capacity building.

They also agreed to work together in preparing negotiations and the signing of the 2026–2027 cooperation programme, with particular emphasis on digital transformation, strengthening the legal framework for cooperation, and providing legal support in bilateral trade and investment.

The talks consolidated the traditional partnership between Vietnam and Algeria, and laid the groundwork for a more substantive and effective phase of cooperation, in line with international integration and domestic reform agendas of both countries./.
