- Party General Secretary To Lam offered incense to heroic martyrs at the Vi Xuyen national martyrs’ cemetery in the northern province of Ha Giang on February 5, on the occasion of the 95th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) (February 3).
Lam and his entourage observed a moment of silence, offering flowers and incense to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers. They pledged their unwavering loyalty to the CPV’s goals and ideals, vowing to forever follow the path chosen by the CPV, President Ho Chi Minh, and the people. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh underlined the determination to build a clean and strong Party organisation of the Government while delivering the closing remarks of the first meeting of the Government’s Party Committee in the 2020-2025 tenure on February 5 afternoon.

- The Hanoi Statistics Office announced on February 5 that the capital city’s consumer price index (CPI) for January inched up 0.51% from the previous month, with 10 out of 11 groups experiencing price hikes.
Leading the pack was the culture, entertainment, and tourism group, which saw the sharpest monthly increase at 0.74%. Close behind was the transportation group, rising by 0.73%; housing, electricity, water, fuel, and construction materials group 0.72%; food and dining services 0.57%; beverages and tobacco 0.54%. Addressing a New Year opening ceremony held at the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HOSE) on February 5, Chi said the Government is working to surpass the initial economic growth target for this year, setting the stage for a double-digit growth trajectory during the 2026–2030 period. - A representative from the Ministry of Public Security on February 5 provided an update on traffic safety and order during the freshly ended Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, as well as on efforts to combat cybercrime.

- The Ministry of Health’s Department of Preventive Medicine reported on February 5 that Vietnam’s event-based surveillance system has recorded information about the seasonal flu outbreak in Japan.
According to data published by the National Institute of Infectious Diseases of Japan on January 31, about 9.5 million cases of seasonal flu were recorded in Japan from September 2, 2024 to January 26, 2025.
