- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Commitee To Lam held phone talks with US President Donald Trump on July 2 evening (Hanoi time) to discuss the two countries' relations and reciprocal tariff negotiations.

The two leaders expressed their delight at the strong and positive development of bilateral ties. They welcomed the two negotiating delegations reaching consensus on a Vietnam - US joint statement concerning a fair and balanced reciprocal trade agreement framework. Read full stoty

- Party General Secretary To Lam, together with the delegation of NA deputies of Hanoi, met with voters in 11 wards of the capital city on July 2 to inform them of the outcomes of the 15th NA's 9th session and listen to their ideas and aspirations.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and delivered remarks at the national military-political conference held by the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defence on July 2.

The conference reviewed the army’s performance in the first half of 2025 and outlined key tasks for the remainder of the year. It was organised in person at the ministry's headquarters and connected virtually to over 3,000 delegates across military units nationwide. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked Makara Capital Partners to promptly make investment decisions and expand operations in Vietnam, particularly in priority sectors, in the spirit of “working together, benefiting together, winning together, and sharing joy and happiness.”

He made the request at a reception in Hanoi on July 2 for Chairman and CEO Ali Ijaz Ahmad and other senior executives of the Singapore-based group, who are exploring investment opportunities in Vietnam. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his belief that Australian Ambassador Gillian Bird will make positive contributions to the development of the Vietnam-Australia relationship during his reception for the newly appointed diplomat in Hanoi on July 2.

He praised the robust and comprehensive growth of bilateral ties since the two countries set up diplomatic relations more than five decades ago, highlighting the elevation to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2024 — the highest level of cooperation Vietnam maintains with any partner. - To achieve its 2025 rubber export target of 3.3 billion USD – down 4.6% from 2024, Vietnam needs to strive to earn 2.1 billion USD in the second half of this year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAE).

- National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and Saudia, the national airline of Saudi Arabia, have officially set up a codeshare partnership to enhance connectivity for passengers travelling between the two nations, improving service quality and providing a more rewarding experience.

The agreement also includes reciprocal benefits from the airlines’ programmes for frequent flyers. Read full story

- The first paper-based food packaging line in Vietnam applying Tetra Recart® technology was officially inaugurated in Son La province on July 2 by Vietnam’s leading supplier of processed food, Dong Giao Foodstuff Export JSC (Doveco), and Sweden's Tetra Pak Group.

The line will begin full operation this month at Doveco’s Son La factory, a key agro-processing hub in the northwest region. Read full story

The CMC Research Institute for Applied Technology (CMC ATI) has unveiled CATI-VLM, an AI model for document reading that has already claimed a spot among the world’s elite, ranking first in Vietnam and among the top 12 globally in the Document Visual Question Answering (DocVQA) category of the Robust Reading Competition (RRC) in June 2025./. Vietnamese naval ship completes mission at Kakadu Exercise 2026

Ship 016–Quang Trung of Brigade 162 under Naval Region 4 departed Sydney Harbour on the morning of March 25 for home after successfully completing activities within the framework of the Exercise Kakadu Fleet Review 2026 marking the 125th anniversary of the Royal Australian Navy and the multilateral naval exercise Kakadu 2026.

95th anniversary of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union marked in Laos
