- Party General Secretary To Lam and visiting Chairman of the Russian Federal Assembly’s State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin acknowledged positive results in bilateral cooperation regarding economy – trade, energy, oil and gas, defence – security, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges at their meeting in Hanoi on September 29.

- Party General Secretary To Lam urged the science and technology sector to continue building on its past achievements to propel Vietnam forward during a ceremony in Hanoi on September 29 marking its 66th anniversary and 80 years of the post and telecommunications industry.

He lauded the post and telecom sector for its trailblazing role in network digitisation, noting that it brought the internet to Vietnam in 1997, opening avenues for education, production, trade, entertainment, and global integration. Today, mobile networks span nearly the entire country, with 4G covering almost 100% of the population and 5G now rolling out. Vietnam stands among a select few nations capable of designing and producing 5G equipment domestically. The postal system, too, has modernised, harnessing digital tools to underpin e-commerce and logistics. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held phone talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on September 29 to discuss ways to make the Vietnam - Germany Strategic Partnership more substantive, effective and comprehensive, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

PM Chinh conveyed greetings from Party General Secretary To Lam and other high-ranking Vietnamese Party and State leaders to the German Chancellor. He praised Germany’s role and position within the European Union (EU) and globally, and noted with satisfaction that after 50 years of diplomatic ties, Germany has become one of Vietnam’s top partners in trade and investment. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on September 29 chaired a meeting of the Government’s standing members to review the first session of the Vietnam – China Joint Committee on Railway Cooperation and the progress of key agreements, including the Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong railway project.

Under the National Assembly's resolution, the 419km railway line carries a total investment of more than 203 trillion VND (8.37 billion USD), with construction scheduled to start in 2025 and wrap up by 2030. The PM mandated that certain project components kick off by December 19, 2025. Read full story

- Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin on September 29 afternoon concluded his official visit to Vietnam, during he also co-chaired the fourth session of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee between the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) and the Russian State Duma.

During his trip on September 28–29, made at the invitation of NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man, Chairman Volodin paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at the late leader's mausoleum and laid flowers at the monument to heroes and martyrs in Hanoi. Read full story

- The Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations under the Ministry of National Defence on September 29 held a welcome ceremony for Engineering Unit Rotation 3 after they successfully completed the duties at the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA).

- The People’s Committee of Ta Van commune in Lao Cai province reported that the local rescue force found two foreign tourists at 11 am on September 29 in the Hoang Lien National Park in Sin Chai village.

At 7 pm the previous evening, the communal People’s Committee received a report from the communal police that two German tourists had gone missing somewhere in the national park’s forested area./. Read full story

Vietnamese naval ship completes mission at Kakadu Exercise 2026

Ship 016–Quang Trung of Brigade 162 under Naval Region 4 departed Sydney Harbour on the morning of March 25 for home after successfully completing activities within the framework of the Exercise Kakadu Fleet Review 2026 marking the 125th anniversary of the Royal Australian Navy and the multilateral naval exercise Kakadu 2026.

95th anniversary of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union marked in Laos
