Hanoi (VNA) - Philippine Vice President Sara Duterte said on February 7 that her lawyers were preparing for a legal battle in her upcoming impeachment trial.

Duterte was speaking for the first time since the House of Representatives impeached her on a raft of criminal charges, including plotting to have President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. assassinated, which she again denied.

Addressing a press briefing, she underscored economic hardships facing the Philippine people, calling on her supporters to turn to social media to express their sentiments instead of holding street protests to avoid disrupting their lives.

According to the plan, the Philippine Senate will review the case of Sara Duterte when it reconvenes in June, based on the impeachment resolution forwarded by the House of Representatives./.
