Hanoi (VNA) – The death toll in the Philippines from Typhoon Kalmaegi rose to 188 on November 7, with 135 people remaining missing and 96 others injured.

On the same day, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. visited evacuation centres, distributing relief aid and assuring victims of continued government support.

The Southeast Asian country is predicted to face Super Typhoon Fung-wong, locally known as Uwan, in the coming days.

The local civil aviation regulator has placed all area centres and airport operations under heightened alert in preparation for Fung-wong, which is forecast to intensify into a super typhoon before making landfall in the northern Philippines on November 9 evening or early November 10 morning./.
