Hanoi (NNT/VNA) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the National Innovation Agency (NIA) have signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance innovation in Thailand’s tourism industry.

The agreement, signed at the TAT headquarters by TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool and NIA Director Dr. Krithpaka Boonfueng, involves tourism operators, startups, and technology partners with plans to accelerate the country’s shift toward an innovation-based tourism economy.

Under the collaboration, both agencies will develop the “Amazing Thailand Innovation Gadget,” a Tourism Innovation Repository that connects, curates, and expands tourism technology solutions from across the country. The platform will serve as a central hub for digital tools and applications that support local entrepreneurs and help tourism operators adopt modern technologies suited to their regional needs.

The project has been launched with the aim of enhancing traveller experiences, boosting the competitiveness of tourism businesses, promoting Thailand’s status as a global destination for smart and sustainable tourism, and delivering economic and social benefits to local communities.

Through the platform, entrepreneurs will gain access to practical innovations that can be applied in real-world operations, while travellers will enjoy more seamless and personalised journeys from trip planning to on-site experiences. The repository will also function as a long-term resource to build capacity, encourage collaboration, and expand Thailand’s tourism innovation ecosystem./.
