Hanoi (VNA) - Thailand is pushing forward its national transformation strategy to become a regional hub for artificial intelligence (AI) and digital innovation, Thai Deputy Prime Minister Prasert Jantararuangtong said on May 29.
In a video keynote address at the Huawei Thailand Digital & AI Summit 2025 in Bangkok, Prasert, who is also Minister of Digital Economy and Society, pointed out the important function of AI and digital innovation in the Southeast Asian country's long-term development strategy.
The Thai digital economy is growing rapidly and is projected to expand by 7.3% in 2025, Prasert said.
Through a three-pronged strategy, Thailand aims to strengthen its digital infrastructure, establish a secure digital environment that protects user rights and builds public trust, and develop human capital by training professionals and producing AI developers within the next two years, he added.
Supporting the national policy on digital talent development, China's technology giant Huawei and Thailand's Chulalongkorn University have collaborated in designing AI-focused curricula, developing information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure.
The summit attracted over 2,000 participants, including government leaders, global technology pioneers, and academic researchers, to explore the next phase of the Thai digital economy driven by AI, cloud innovation./.
