Copenhagen (VNA) – National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has announced the launch of its first direct flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, marking the first direct air route between the countries.
Starting December 15, the carrier will operate three weekly round-trip flights, using the wide-body Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
Flights will depart from HCM City every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, while return flights from Copenhagen will be available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
The November 19 announcement of the new route coincided with the signing of four key agreements between Vietnam Airlines and Danish partners to strengthen ties in touirsm and aviation.
One of the documents features strategic cooperation with Greater Copenhagen Connected, focusing on joint tourism promotion and the development of the Nordic market.
Meanwhile, the carrier's memorandum of understanding with Copenhagen Airport highlights infrastructure utilisation, service-quality enhancement, and coordinated implementation of joint promotional campaigns.
In addition, the airline and Albatros Travel, a Danish tour operator, agreed to collaborate on developing two-way tourism products aimed at increasing the number of Danish visitors to Vietnam while expanding outbound flows from Vietnam to the Nordic region.
Moreover, a tripartite cooperation framework was established between Vietnam Airlines, Saigontourist, and Nordic Travel to expand package tours and enhance customer experience.
Pham Thi Nguyet, VNA’s Director of Marketing and Product Sales, said that Copenhagen, one of Northern Europe’s leading economic and tourism hubs, serves as a gateway to the wider Scandinavian region, including Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark.
Nguyen Tien Hoang, Head of VNA branch in France and Europe, affirmed that the Copenhagen - HCM City route is one of VNA's important steps to complete its flight network in Europe. Copenhagen will be an important gateway to connect the economy, culture and politics between Vietnam and destinations in Northern Europe in general./.
