Havana (VNA) – The course of the Vietnamese revolution and the victory of the August Revolution provided profound lessons for the struggles for independence of nations across the globe, affirmed Dr. Ruvislei González Saez, Vice President of the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association.

Speaking to Vietnam News Agency correspondents on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 – 2025) and the National Day (September 2, 1945 – 2025), Dr. González, who also serves as Executive Secretary of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies at the University of Havana, stressed that in 1945, Vietnam’s triumph ended nearly 90 years of colonial rule, abolished a harsh ruling regime, and brought independence and freedom to the country.

He noted that the revolution’s success reflected the combination of political struggle and armed resistance under strategic leadership and close coordination, while uniting workers and peasants, setting an example for other liberation movements in Asia and Africa.

Reviewing Vietnam’s achievements over the past 80 years, he hailed the nation’s extraordinary socio-economic progress and growing international standing, attributing it to the Communist Party of Vietnam’s strategic vision, adherence to President Ho Chi Minh’s testament, and above all, efforts to improve people’s livelihoods under socialism.

Dr. González underlined the Party’s adaptability and renewal of thinking in line with global changes, enabling breakthroughs in socio-economic development. He highlighted Vietnam’s role as an emerging hub in East Asia’s supply chains and its ambitions to become a high-income developed country by 2045.

He further praised the Party’s leadership in pursuing economic diversification and reform within a socialist-oriented market economy, raising productivity while maintaining social goals.

Vietnam’s 80-year journey, he said, not only demonstrates resilience and determination in overcoming challenges but also serves as a source of encouragement and valuable lessons for people worldwide./.
