Beijing (VNA) – Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with visiting Sultan of Brunei Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah in Beijing on February 6.
Xi said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties more than 30 years ago, the two countries have continuously deepened political trust, actively aligned development strategies, and achieved fruitful results in practical cooperation in various fields. They have also maintained good coordination in international and regional affairs and made positive contributions to regional peace, stability, development and prosperity.
The Chinese leader said China is ready to strengthen strategic connectivity with Brunei, encourage more Chinese enterprises to invest and start business in the country, and support Brunei in diversifying its economy and developing its digital economy, artificial intelligence, and new energy industries.
For his part, the Brunei Sultan affirmed that the Southeast Asian country is willing to strengthen political trust with China and deepen cooperation in areas such as trade, agriculture, fishery, and energy, while also promoting cultural exchanges. Brunei is also committed to upholding multilateralism and free trade, and protecting the common interests of developing countries.
On this occasion, in the presence of the two heads of state, representatives from ministries and agencies of China and Brunei signed cooperation agreements across various fields, including justice, economy, trade, and communications./.
