CICON 2023 to open up Vietnam-RoK cooperation opportunities

HCM City (VNA) – Permanent Vice Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committeeand Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Phan Van Mai hosted areception on April 18 for CEO of Korea CEO Summit (KCS) Park Bong-kyu to discuss the organisation of the CICON 2023, an internationalconference that combines the initials of Creative Urban, Culture, Convergenceand Industry.

Park said KCS, which gathers over 8,000 CEOs from over 8,000 member companies invarious areas to discuss advanced management strategies, information and knowledge, wants to jointly hold activities and embark on projects inthe city in the near future. He added that KCS hopes to organise the CICON 2023 in HCM City in June on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Republic of Korea (RoK) diplomatic ties. The event expects to draw theattendance of about 100 Korean officials, parliamentarians and businesses.

The conference was held forthe first time in the capital city of Seoul in 2012, followed by Xi’an and Qingdao of China, Ulaanbaatar of Mongolia, andmost recently, the capital city of Hanoi in 2022.

According to Park, CICON 2023 will focus on the challenges andopportunities for economic and cultural cooperation between the RoK andVietnam, as well as development prospects for smart city and culturalindustry of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City in particular.

The event will be divided intothree sections, including topics related to smart urban development, environment(urban industry), film, cuisine, fashion (cultural industry), and a series ofactivities aimed at promoting bilateral friendly relations (convergenceindustry).

The convergence industry section will focus its discussions on avariety of topics that many businesses and young entrepreneurs are interestedin, such as Blockchain technology, Metaverse virtual space technology, NFT(Non-fungible token) digital products, and Web 3.0 (the upcoming thirdgeneration of the Internet).

Mai, for his part, saidthe municipal authorities will assign departments and agencies to discuss CICON2023 organisation with KCS.

He informed the guest that the city isin the process of building a smart city with the first foundations being laid in healthcare, education and transport.

As an economicand cultural locomotive of Vietnam and Southeast Asia, the city is alsointerested in developing the cultural industry through exchange, cooperation andinvestment programmes with various international partners, including the RoK.The convergence industry is new for the city, but it is alsoplanning to develop related fields, especially artificial intelligence, hesaid.

The host hoped for more opportunities for exchange and cooperation withKCS as well as many other organisations, units and businesses from the RoK in the future through periodic and annual joint programmes./.

From Berlin, the Vietnamese guitar fosters cultural connections to global community

This year, 30 contestants from 15 countries entered the competition, with five finalists set to compete on October 10 at Ballhaus Prinzenallee in Berlin. The programme also includes a gala concert, masterclasses and a guitar exhibition. Hanoi launches project to build cultural industry hub in Old Quarter

The project, covering about 3,862sqm. at 17 Nguyen Thien Thuat and 40 Thanh Ha, includes around 2,317sqm. of construction area.
