Dong Thap (VNA) - The first Congress of the Dong Thap provincial Party Organisation for the 2025–2030 tenure concluded on October 10, reaffirming its goal of developing ecological agriculture and modern rural areas.

According to the Congress’s resolution, Dong Thap will pay special heed to building a clean and strong Party and political system, fostering the great national unity, and inspiring the people’s development aspirations and self-reliance.

By 2030 Dong Thap aims to become a rapidly developing industrial province, leading in ecological agriculture, modern rural development, and cultured farmers, ranking among the top localities in the Mekong Delta, with higher living standards, social and cultural progress, and ensured national defence and security.

For the 2025–2030 term, the province has set key targets, including an average annual GRDP growth rate of at least 9%, mobilisation of social development investment acounting for 33% of GRDP, state budget revenue expanding by 10% per year; and per capita income of between 115 billion VND and 120 million VND by 2030.

By 2045, the province aspires to be a hub of modern agriculture and eco-tourism in the Mekong Delta, and a national leader in agricultural and advanced industrial sectors.

To achieve these goals, Dong Thap has identified five strategic breakthroughs, focusing on developing a modern, climate-adaptive transport infrastructure with cross-border and multimodal logistics to become a Mekong subregion hub; promoting high-tech development linked to processing industries, value chains, and exports; building a high-quality workforce; and advancing the application of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation in priority sectors and state management.

Attention will be also paid to enhancing the leadership and governance capacity of the Party; sustainably developing key sectors toward a green, digital, and circular economy; improving the efficiency of investment mobilisation and utilisation; strengthening regional connectivity; and addressing bottlenecks in transport, industrial, and urban infrastructure to meet development demand.

In his speech, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee for the 2020–2025 tenure Le Quoc Phong emphasised that the congress marks the beginning of a new development journey for Dong Thap.

Officials, Party members, and local residents were requested to promote solidarity, creativity, and dynamism, swiftly implementing the congress’s resolution to embark on a new path of strong development./.
