Hanoi unveils new tourism offerings for National Day celebrations

With 14 different products linked to various transport options like cyclos, electric cars, double-decker buses, and elevated Cat Linh – Ha Dong metro line, each journey chimes with the unique rhythm of the city.

Hanoi (VNA) - The municipal Department of Tourism has announced that Hanoi’s tourism sector has activated a package of 80 new tourism offerings to showcase its cultural heritage while celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).

Hanoi never stays still, it invites visitors to join them on the new routes.

Divided into eight categories, the offerings span heritage, culture and history, eco-tourism and nature, gastronomy, shopping and city life, arts and nightlife, hotel-based services, transport by metro, waterways, agriculture and craft villages, and regional and international linkages.

Among the highlights are heritage discovery tours, seasonal flower walks, excursions to Ba Vi and suburban retreats, culinary tours and immersive craft village visits. A digital map of all 80 experiences was developed to improve visitor experience.

Rail travel is becoming the centerpiece of Hanoi’s new offerings. Metro Line 2A is being integrated into heritage and shopping tours. The Hanoi Metro Green Journey connects visitors to Van Phuc silk village and the Temple of Literature while traditional routes are being revamped, from the century-old Hanoi Station to premium journeys like the SJourney Luxury Train and the Hanoi Train.

Local tourism leaders said the metro railway system provides convenient and environmentally sound opportunities to explore the capital. Through seamless connections, visitors can easily access cultural, historical, culinary, and entertainment destinations at each station stop. The system also contributes to emission reduction and environmental protection, and encourages public transportation habits while alleviating urban traffic congestion.

The crown jewel of the tourism stimulus package is “The Hanoi Train”, also known as the Hanoi – Five City Gates Train, scheduled to debut on August 19. The double-decker train features five passenger carriages, each named after one of Hanoi’s historic city gates – O Cau Den, O Quan Chuong, O Cau Giay, O Cho Dua, and O Dong Mac. Drawing inspiration from memories of Hanoi in the subsidy period and historical milestones, The Hanoi Train combines nostalgic interior design with distinctive cultural and culinary spaces of the capital.

The train will run three round trips daily from Hanoi Station and stop at Long Bien, Gia Lam, Yen Vien, and Tu Son (Bac Ninh) Stations, with departures at 8:00, 13:30, and 20:00, offering passengers spectacular views of Hanoi’s daytime and nighttime landscapes.

The Hanoi Train represents Hanoi’s first urban tourism railway, combining nostalgic elements with cultural – artistic design and distinctive local cuisine. The products promise fresh experiences for visitors while strengthening tourism connections between Hanoi and Bac Ninh and localities in the vicinity.

Chairman of the Hanoi UNESCO Travel Club Truong Quoc Hung suggested enriching metro-based tours with visits to the Ha Dong Market during Tet or the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum to highlight Hanoi’s artistic features. Travel companies are also calling for better signage, QR codes for check-ins, flexible tourist passes, and greater integration with buses and city tours./.
