Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has announced that the government is preparing an additional economic stimulus package for the fourth quarter of this year, which is expected to benefit more than 30 million households, equivalent to over 100 million people nationwide.

The new package will be an addition to the 16.23 trillion IDR (around 973 million USD) stimulus unveiled last month, which includes food assistance and an infrastructure building programme that could provide temporary work for more than 600,000 people.

Airlangga sai the budget for the additional stimulus is still being counted and the programmes are still being formulated, adding the government will announce more details next week.

Indonesia will also give a 2-billion-USD "Christmas and New Year" stimulus, with discounts on train or boat fares. Plane tickets may drop by 12-14% using this stimulus, the minister noted./.
