Seoul (VNA) – The Republic of Korea (RoK) and Indonesia could triple two-way trade in the next decade if leveraging each other’s strengths in hi-tech, renewable energy and green industry, said Anindya Novyan Bakrie, CEO of Indonesia’s Bakrie & Brothers and chair of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Speaking in an interview on the sidelines of the APEC 2025 CEO Summit in Gyeongju, the RoK, on October 31, Bakrie said both countries share “complementary strengths” in advanced technology and industrial capacity.
The RoK’s technological expertise in battery manufacturing, renewable energy and artificial intelligence can support Indonesia’s young and growing labour force, he said.
He added that his group is exploring partnerships in electrification, renewable energy and engineering. Under his leadership, the group has evolved from traditional mining and oil businesses toward renewables, carbon capture and digital infrastructure, including data centers and fiber optics.
He called on the APEC business community to build more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient supply chains, creating opportunities for small and micro enterprises in Indonesia./.
