Russia, Laos launch joint military exercises Laros 2025

Hanoi (VNA) – The Russian Ministry of Defence announced that the joint military exercise with Laos - Laros 2025 - has commenced in the Southeast Asian country and will run until September 25.

The drill is part of activities marking the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

The exercises are held under the motto "Shoulder to Shoulder in the Fight for Peace and Security", symbolising the strengthening of military cooperation between the two countries. As part of the exercises, the military personnel of the Lao People's Army will work out all stages of practical actions in unified combat formations with units of the Eastern Military District of the Russian army.

The drill focuses on joint command-and-control training, counter-terrorism operations, and improving combat readiness, particularly in complex terrain and under challenging weather conditions. Training will involve the deployment of armored infantry and special forces units, as well as the use of modern military vehicles and weaponry.

During the static display, sniper rifles, including the latest models, promising robotic complexes, ground-based drones equipped with machine guns, as well as lightly armored high-terrain vehicles are presented./.
