Bangkok (VNA) – Thailand's parliament will hold a special session on September 5 to vote on a new prime minister, according to an announcement from the lower house.
The Office of the Secretary of the House of Representatives of Thailand published the agenda for the meeting of the House of Representatives on its website, with the eighth urgent item to consider the approval of a person suitable to be appointed as Prime Minister, in accordance with Article 159 of the Constitution of the country.
Earlier the same day, Natthaphong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the People's Party (PP), the largest opposition party in the Thai House of Representatives, announced the Party’s decision to support the leader of the Thai Pride Party (Bhumjaithai) Anutin Charnvirakul as Prime Minister, along with three conditions, including the requirement to dissolve the National Assembly within four months from the time of his policy statement to the parliament./.

Sorawong, who also serves as acting Minister of Tourism and Sports, said the submission followed the People’s Party (PP)’s announcement of a resolution backing Bhumjaithai Party leader Anutin Charnvirakul as the next PM.
